Disney's Redhead Auctions Coming to an End

"The pirates will no longer be saying “We wants the Redhead” in the Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland, after the ride’s auction scene undergoes a modification in 2018."

It's absolutely incredible to me to see the varying opinions expressed on this here internet about this change. Those who are nostalgia say that this is an over-reaction and then there are those who say this should have never been a part of the ride.

"In the auction scene, the Redhead will become a pirate, helping the Auctioneer gather valuables from the townspeople to auction off to the pirates."

I think that this is Disney showing sensitivity towards something very important; equality.

Yes, it's only an attraction. And yes, meant to be humorous. But Disney is taking a stand for equality in a way that will only make this attraction better.

Plus, do we really think the Imagineers will get this wrong?
